The producer of the show, Jan Lagermand Lundme, entertainment manager at DR, says:
- We are going to Herning, and it will be a happy reunion. Melodi Grand Prix fits perfect to the city, and Boxen is one of the best places in the country to produce TV, so we have the ideal environment to work with. There is always a terrific atmosphere among the audience in Boxen, and it affects the show and reaches into the living rooms of all viewers, so we are really looking forward.
The deadline for submitting songs for Melodi Grand Prix 2017 ended 5 September 2016. The music producer Cutfather and a secret jury will have the responsibility to choose the songs and artists that will compete at Melodi Grand Prix 2017 in Herning.
The arena of Emmelie de Forest

Boxen and Herning was in the run for hosting Eurovision Song Contest 2014, but lost the battle to Copenhagen.
