Hungary: A Dal 2017 participants announced

The format of A Dal 2017 will be the same as previous years: A total of 30 songs will compete to represent Hungary in Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv. See all the contestants and the dates for A Dal 2017 here

The national Hungarian broadcaster MTVA has revealed the 30 entries that will compete in A Dal 2017 and the honor to represent Hungary at Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv. The dates for the six A Dal 2017-shows have also been announced.

UPDATED 4 January 2017:
Jetlag has been disqualified - will be replaced by Chase – "Dust In The Wind"
Szabyest has been disqualified - will be replaced by Rocktenors – "Osz"

A Dal Calendar

This year's A Dal will consist of six shows: Three heats, two semi-finals and one final. In each of the heats there are 10 entries, top-six qualifies to one of the two semi-finals.

  • Heat 1: 14 January 2017 (10 entries - 6 qualifiers to semi-finals)
  • Heat 2: 28 January 2017 (10 entries - 6 qualifiers to semi-finals)
  • Heat 3: 4 February 2017 (10 entries - 6 qualifiers to semi-finals)
  • Semi-final 1: 10 February 2017 (9 semi-finalists - 4 qualifiers to final)
  • Semi-final 2: 11 February 2017 (9 semi-finalists - 4 qualifiers to final)
  • Final: 18 February 2017 (8 finalists - 1 winner)

All the shows of A Dal 2017 will be held in MTVA's studios in Budapest, starting at 19:40 CET, and hosts of all the six A Dal shows will again be Tatár Csilla and Harsányi Levente like in 2015 and 2016.

A Dal Voting

  • Heats
    • Two rounds of voting:
    • First round: 5 semi-finalists are determined by combination score from a jury and public voting (SMS, App, Online)
    • Second round: The public can vote (SMS, App, Online) on the remaining five entries that were not among the qualifiers, to find the sixth semi-finalist
  • Semi-finals
    • Two rounds of voting:
    • First round: 3 finalists are determined by combination score from a jury and public voting (SMS, App, Online)
    • Second round: The public can vote (SMS, App, Online) on the remaining six entries that were not among the qualifiers, to find the fourth finalist
  • Final
    • Two rounds of voting:
    • First round (jury): The four jurors each give 4, 6, 8 and 10 points to their top-4 entries. The 4 entries with most scores from the jury proceeded to the second round (super-final)
    • Second round (public vote): The public selects (SMS, App, Online) the winner among the 4 super-finalists

The jury members are: Both Miklós, Caramel, Frenreisz Károly and Zséda.

Hungary in Eurovision Song Contest



Hungary 2016: Freddie - "Pioneer"
Hungary has participated in Eurovision Song Contest 14 times since its debut in 1994. The Best result was in the debuting year 1994 where the song "Kinek Mondjam El Vétkeimet" went 4th. Since the introduction of the Semi-finals in 2004 Hungary has qualified for the Grand Final 8 out of 10 times - The last 6 years Hungary did qualify for the Grand Final. Their worst result was in 2008 where Hungary went last in Semi-final 2.
