Moldova: Format and dates for O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016

O Melodie Pentru Europa will again select the Moldovian entry for Eurovision Song Contest. Public broadcaster TRM has revealed the format and dates for O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016

The Moldavian broadcaster TRM has confirmed its participation for Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm 2016. The format for O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016 is the same as last years selection: Two semi-finals will choose eight songs each for the national final.

The deadline for submit songs for O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016 is on 7 December 2015. TRM will cut down the submitted songs to 50, who will compete in live auditions on 19 December 2015. A jury selects 24 acts to compete in one of the two semi-finals held on 23 and 25 February 2016.

The Moldavian selection includes three shows: Two semi-finals and one final.
12 songs will compete in each semi-final.
Eight songs will qualify to the final from each semi-final.
Seven of the qualifiers are based on the combined votes from the jury and televoting results, while the eighth qualifier in each semi-final is the entry that achieves the highest televoting score from the remaining entries after a second round of public televoting during an after-show.

O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016 is organized by the Moldovan broadcaster TeleRadio-Moldova (TRM). All the shows will be broadcasted live on Moldovian TV, Radio and Internet.

Moldova has participated in Eurovision Song Contest every year since its debut in 2005. Out of the 11 times we have seen Moldova in Eurovision, they manage to qualify for 8 Grand Finals. The best result was the debut year in 2005 where the song "Boonika Bate Toba" finished 6th.
