Eurovision 2024: The qualification streaks

The Eurovision 2024 Semi-finals have now taken place. For the first time in several Eurovision editions, Georgia and Latvia qualified for the Grand Final. Let's have a look at the qualification streaks

The public has spoken and the Grand Final lineup for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 has been decided.

31 countries competed in the two Semi-finals, and 20 of those will return on Saturday hoping to be taking the Eurovision trophy home. It seems like the perfect timing to look into the countries' qualification streaks and understand which countries have broken the non-qualification curse and which have fallen into the struggling trap.

With alyona alyona & Jerry Heil's qualification to the Grand Final with "Teresa & Maria," Ukraine remains the only country to have always qualified from the Semi-finals into the Grand Final (together with Luxembourg, of course, who was in their first Semi-final ever and qualified).

Best qualification streaks

1. Sweden (12 times)

Sweden remains in the lead. Regardless of not having competed in a Semi-final this year given Loreen's victory with "Tattoo" in Liverpool, the country has qualified for a Eurovision Final 12 times in a row. It was only in 2010 that Sweden failed to make it through.

Last year with The Netherlands missing the Final in Liverpool, their five-year qualification streak was broken. Even if Joost Klein's "Europapa" has secured a spot in this year's Final, once the streak is broken, you go back to the end of the line.

2. Norway (7 times)

We move on to Norway. Gåte's "Ulveham" has convinced the public and moved through the Final making it the seventh time in a row that Norway makes it through.

3. Serbia (6 times)

Next on the list is Serbia that thanks to Teya Dora's "Ramonda" increases its streak to six qualifications in a row.

Honourable mentions: Switzerland (5), Finland (4), Lithuania (4) and Portugal (4) close the top 5.

Worst qualification streaks

1. Denmark (4 times)

With Saba missing the Final with "Sand," Denmark has now missed four Finals in a row.

2. Malta, San Marino (3 times)

Both countries continue to struggle to reach the Final. Sarah Bonnici's "Loop" and Megara's "11:11" didn't get enough votes to make it through this time around.

3. Azerbaijan, Iceland (2 times)

Even though it's not looking bad for the two nations (just yet), they now stand in two non-qualifciations in a row.

In the meantime, both Latvia (6) and Georgia (6) broke then non-qualification streak as both Dons and Nutsa made it through the Final.
