Greece: Marina Satti's Eurovision 2024 song "Zari" is out now

We're now another song closer to completing the Eurovision 2024 lineup. Greece is joining the list of confirmed songs with the release of Marina Satti's song "Zari."

Marina Satti was announced as the Greek representative for Eurovision 2024 back in October, and now her song is officially out. Greek broadcaster ERT officially unveiled the entry on a special presentation show, "Eurovision in Sight," on ERT1, which was hosted by Fotis Sergoulopoulos and Jenny Melita.

"Zari" was written by Gino the Ghost, Jay Lewitt Stolar, Jordan Richard Palmer, Konstantin Plamenov Beshkov, Marina Satti, Nick Kodonas, OGE, Solmeister, and Vlospa.

The stage director for "Zari" will be the iconic Fokas Evangelinos, who has been the stage director for many memorable Eurovision performances including, but not limited to, My Number One (Greece 2005), Shady Lady (Ukraine 2008), and Die Together (Greece 2022).

Marina Satti will take the Eurovision stage in Malmö with her song "Zari" in the first half of the second Semi-final on Thursday, 9 May.

Marina Satti (37) is a Greek singer, songwriter, music producer, and actress who was born in Athens. Satii was raised by a Sudanese Arab father and Greek mother from Heraklion, Crete, where she was ultimately raised, spending her summers in Sudan.

Growing up, Marina was trained on the classical piano, as well as classical vocal training in high school. She went on to study Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens, but didn't graduate as she shifted her interest to music full time.

In 2008 Satti graduated with honors, taking first place in lyrical monody having studied under baritone Panos Dimas. She went on to study jazz at the Nakas Conservatory and obtained a second degree in advanced classical studies the following year. With that, in 2010 she spent two semesters studying jazz composition, contemporary writing and production under scholarship from the iconic Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts (located in the United States).

After finishing school Marina was part of many groups, including the EBU's European Jazz Orchestra, a cappella group The Singing Tribe, and founding the female a cappella group Fonés ("Voices"), which focused on performing traditional polyphonic songs.

Satti went on to release her first single, "Koupes" ("Cups"), in 2016. Her debut single went on to gather over 27 million YouTube views. Following that, in 2017 her second single, "Mantissa" ("Seeress"), charted in the European Union's Official Top 100, Bulgaria's Top 40, along with Global Citizen calling it the "song of the summer."

May of 2022 saw the release of her first album, "YENNA" ("BIRTH"), which saw great commercial success. Marina also has done numerous projects to help spread traditional music across Europe, which has led her to where she is in her career today.

Greece started its Eurovision adventure back in 1974, and has participated in the contest 43 times.

They won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 with the song "My Number One," performed by Helena Paparizou. Since that victory, they have been very successful in Eurovision.

Greece has qualified for the Grand Final 16 out of 19 times, only missing the Grand Final in 2016, 2018 and 2023. Since 2004, they have finished in the top ten 11 out of 19 times. They have never finished last in the contest.
