Hungary: A Dal 2016 will select entry for Stockholm
The traditional "A Dal" returns in Hungary next year. The winner will represent Hungary at Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm. Song submissions open from today
Since 2012 Hungary has chosen its Eurovision entry via "A Dal". It has become one of the most popular national selections for Eurovision Song Contest, and today the Hungarian public broadcaster MTVA has opened the song submission for A Dal 2016. The submission period closes on 25 November 2015.
A Dal will have the same format as in previous years, with six shows: Three heats, two semi-finals and one final. All the six shows will be broadcasted live. The qualifiers in the shows will be chosen by a combination of televoting and jury.
Hungary in Eurovision Song Contest
Hungary has participated in Eurovision Song Contest 13 times since its debut in 1994. The Best result was in the debuting year 1994 where the song "Kinek Mondjam El Vétkeimet" went 4th. Since the introduction of the Semi-finals in 2004 Hungary has qualified for the Grand Final 7 out of 9 times - The last 5 years Hungary did qualify for the Grand Final. Their worst result was in 2008 where Hungary went last in Semi-final 2.
