Artists for Canada’s Choice revealed

Five artists are in the running to become Canada's first-ever Eurovision representative

Canadian broadcaster CBC/Radio-Canada has revealed the five finalists competing in Canada's Choice, the artist selection to determine who will represent Canada at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Burgas, Bulgaria.

The finalists were announced during a special press conference, following an application period from 31 August to 9 September.

Canada's Choice

Le choix du Canada

The five finalists will compete for the opportunity to represent Canada at its Eurovision debut in May 2027.

Videos featuring each finalist have been published online, allowing the Canadian public to vote for their favourite artist.

Voting is open exclusively to people in Canada and closes on 6 November at 08:59 CET (5 November at 23:59 PST). Voters can cast one vote per day, either for the same artist or a different one. The first vote must be confirmed via email.

The artist with the most votes will be given the opportunity to represent Canada at Eurovision 2027. The winning artist will be announced in November or December 2026.

Unlike traditional national selections, Canada's Choice focuses on selecting the artist rather than the song.

Once the winning artist has been chosen, they will work with music industry professionals to develop Canada's Eurovision entry and stage performance.

Josiana

Josiane Comeau won La Voix (the French version of singing contest The Voice) in 2020 and signed a record deal with Parlophone and Warner Music shortly after.

The Acadian pop singer from Moncton, N.B., takes pride in her Chiac accent and bilingual music:

– Getting to represent my Acadian culture, it’s just a small place in New Brunswick that not a lot of people know, especially in Europe [and] to be able to blend English and French, representing Canada in both of the country’s official languages, would make me so proud, she shared at the press conference.

Josiane - "Take Care of You"

Josiane released her debut album, Take Care, in March, which includes the track that she thinks audiences should listen to discover what she brings to the table. She called Take Care of You a song she wrote for “the little version of myself,” and shared that she loves to write songs that are vulnerable and powerful at the same time.

Josiane began to tear up a bit during the announcement show, overcome with emotion at how far she made it in her Eurovision journey so far. “Getting the opportunity to share my music and having it celebrated on the other side of the world would be so incredible,” she said at the press conference.

Rêve

Rêve (Briannah Donolo) got her start performing in the bars and clubs of her Montreal hometown. Citing Lady Gaga and Chappell Roan as two of her inspirations when it comes to style and performance, Rêve leans hard into theatrics and dramatic dance pop.

Rêve - "CTRL + ALT + DEL"

The Juno-winning performer believes that she’s uniquely positioned to represent Canada at Eurovision because she can mix pop spectacle with acoustic moments:

– I play guitar, I play piano, I dance, I can rip acoustically. And theatrics, that's my girl,” she said during the press conference. She continued: “It's funny that sometimes all the things that you get scolded for when you're younger become your greatest strengths, and I feel like I’m sitting in that strength today.

Rêve - "Contemporary Love"
Rêve - "Headphones" & "CTRL + ALT + DEL"

For a taste of Rêve’s Eurodance flair, she recommends people check out her songs Ctrl + Alt + Del and Devour.

Rêve has been a fan of Eurovision for the past decade, and during the press conference she stressed the importance of showing the world what Canada can bring to that stage:

– The focus is really about highlighting all of the incredible creatives that we have in Canada … our goal is to keep the story as Canadian as possible, and it's not just the music, it's not just the writers, it's the costume designers, the people helping with staging, it's the people helping with training.

He shared his joy about being a finalist and added that he is inspired by Eurovision. As a musician who sees himself as being “not cookie cutter,” he says it is his authenticity that sets him apart:

– I’m always trying to be the most of myself [as] possible.

– I want to be powerful and emotional and connecting with people. And I want to show the world that Canadians are among the most talented people to walk the Earth, he said virtually during a press conference.

– And I think any of the finalists would be a great choice, but I really think this opportunity was built for me, and I'm ready to win.

He suggested his song Goodbye Forever, for fans to get to know him, because it is “very dramatic, and very bold and full of life.”

His career trajectory is also something that sets him apart:

– I’ve done every single thing from an open mic night to [an] arena stage over the last 14 years, and now this is the next step of my career. This next step, the next stage that I need to go on just to prove to myself and to prove to everyone that Canada has what it takes.

When asked how his stage and theatre background may benefit him at Eurovision, Cloutier said that it helped him learn how to connect with an audience.
