A total of 44 songs were submitted, from which a jury shortlisted four finalists. The songs were presented on 29 January 1968 during the radio programme Disc-Actualités.
The winner was revealed about a week later, chosen by both a jury and listeners. The selected song was "Nous vivrons d’amour", performed by Chris Baldo and Sophie Garel.
