Moldova will return to Eurovision 2026

After a one-year break the EBU confirms Moldova’s return to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna

Moldova will return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2026. The country’s comeback was confirmed today on the EBU’s official Eurovision Instagram account.

The announcement comes ahead of a scheduled press conference this morning at the Arena Chisinău, dedicated to the country’s plans for Eurovision 2026.

On 30 September 2025 TRM held a round of discussions with artists and record producers about a possible Eurovision 2026 participation. Topics included the format of a national selection process, potential rule changes, promotion strategies, and support measures for delegation members.

Martin Green, director of Eurovision, says:

– We are delighted to welcome back TRM after one year of absence. Moldova’s return reminds us of our community’s strength, the power of values and what it truly means to be united through music.

Moldova withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 after what the broadcaster described as "a detailed analysis of the current situation, as well as the economic, administrative, and artistic challenges."

New national selection format

TRM says that following consultations with artists, producers, and music-industry representatives a decision has been made to implement a new national-selection format, inspired by European best practice and adapted to local specifics.

The broadcaster added that two experienced producers have been appointed to coordinate the national final process:

  • Serghei Orlov, recognized for his extensive Eurovision involvement
  • Roman Burlaca, noted for his work with top Moldovan artists

Registration for entries opens on 7 November 2025 and will run for 30 days.

For the first time the national-final jury will consist of 20 members, including 5 international and 15 national jurors to ensure transparency and international competitiveness.
