Eurovision Movie to be released in June

The Will Ferrell movie inspired by Eurovision has gotten a new release date. "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" is set to be released on 26 June 2020

COVID-19 didn't just postpone Eurovision 2020. It also forced the Will Ferrell movie production inspired by the contest to be delayed.

Initially, the Eurovision Movie – Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga – was supposed to premiere last Saturday (16 May), the same day the Eurovision 2020 Grand Final would be held in Rotterdam, but due to the pandemic and cancellation of the show, Will Ferrell and Netflix postponed the release to 26 June.

Will Ferrell, who is also in the film as an actor, made a special appearance in Australia's alternative Eurovision 2020, "Big Night In!". This small participation included a first-look into the movie itself with the release of "Volcano Man", one of the songs that will be included in the movie's soundtrack.

The song is performed by Lars Erickssong (Will Ferrell) and Sigrit Ericksdottir (Rachel McAdams).

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

"Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" will be a Netflix production – in the genre of a comedy – written by Will Ferrell and Andrew Steele. David Dobkin is the director of the movie.

The film was first announced in 2018 after Will Ferrell's surprise appearance in Lisbon during that year's Eurovision Song Contest. As mentioned above, the release was supposed to be on 16 May 2020 but due to coronavirus, it will now be premiered on 26 June in Netflix.
