Samanta Poļakova, 30, has been on the music scene for almost ten years. She has previously tried four times to represent Latvia at Eurovision Song Contest, without success. Until today.

Samantha has been singing in a children's vocal ensemble for 12 years. She studied singing at the British Tech Music School and is still connected as an occasional vocal teacher.

Prior to Supernova 2020, Samantha said:

– Supernova is the only competition in Latvia that offers our musicians an international platform and the opportunity to be noticed at a European level.

– I'm ready to win. My song has power and a strong message, says Samantha.

Samantha's song Still Breathing is the story of a woman's inexorable power, drawing attention to society's stereotypes about women. She says about her song:

– We need to be ideal mothers, wives and successful careerists with big future plans for professional growth. You also need to be able to be masculine at times to be true to yourself, your loved ones and your dreams, and at the same time maintaining a perfect look and being able to take care of everyone around you.

Supernova 2020

Supernova 2020 consisted of only one live show. From the 26 songs initially submitted, a jury was in charge of selecting the 9 best that competed live in Supernova 2020.

Supernova 2020 took place on 8 February, hosted by Toms Grēviņš, Ketija Šēnberga and Beta Beidz. The result was solely determined by public televoting.

During the show, a panel of jurors commented on each of the performances and provided their feedback to the artists. The jury didn't have any direct influence on the final result. The jury consisted of Maarja Merivoo-Parro, Gerūta Griniūtė, Petri Mannonen, and Artis Dvarionas.
