Norway: Artists for MGP 2026 revealed

Eight of the nine artists competing at Melodi Grand Prix 2026 have been revealed by the Norwegian broadcaster. The ninth artist will be selected through a special "MGP cup"

Norwegian broadcaster NRK has just revealed the lineup for Melodi Grand Prix 2026.

Eight acts have been selected by Norwegian national broadcaster NRK, to compete in the next MGP in Norway. A ninth artist will be selected through a special "MGP cup" where the public can vote. The ninth artist will be revealed next week, on 26 January, where the other eight songs also will be released.

The winner of MGP will represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna.

Melodi Grand Prix 2026

Melodi Grand Prix 2026 takes place on Saturday 28 February 2026 in Håkons Hall, Lillehammer and will be hosted by Marte Stokstad and Markus Neby and Ronny Brede Aase.

Nine acts will compete in Melodi Grand Prix 2026. Eight of the acts were revealed today, and the ninth act will be chosen through a special "MGP cup" and revealed on 26 January.

In 2009, Alexander Rybak's Fairytale received the most points ever in the old voting system: 387 points – getting 12 points from 16 countries. However, Norway holds another Eurovision record together with Finland; the country that has finished last the most times – 10 last place finishes!

Since the introduction of the Semi-finals in 2004, Norway has been very successful; qualifying for the Grand Final 18 out of 21 times.
