Belarus: VAL wins the ticket to Eurovision 2020
The group VAL will represent Belarus at Eurovision Song Contest 2020 Rotterdam, after winning the Belarusian national selection final. They will perform the song "Da vidna"
Belarus has decided!
The national final was held tonight live from Minsk, organised by the Belarusian broadcaster, BTRC.
After all 12 artists performed their songs, the results were determined by a different format from last year's, that solely depended on juries. BTRC had decided to change to a system that consisted in a 50/50 combination of an expert jury and a public televoting.
At the end of the show, the winning act was announced – The group VAL with the song Da vidna.
Da vidna is written by Uladzislaŭ Paškievič, Valeryja Hrybusava and Mikita Najdzionaŭ.
Result
Tonight's performers were selected in January after an open audition, that has shortened the number of aspiring contestants from 49 to 12.
VAL
The group VAL consists of singer Lera Gribusova (Valeryja Hrybusava) and singer and multi-instrumentalist Vlad Pashkevich (Uladzislaŭ Paškievič).
In 2015, Lera participated in the Voice of Ukraine, and also the Slavianski Bazar singing contest, where she finished second.

Belarus in Eurovision Song Contest
Belarus haven't had the greatest succes in Eurovision history. They have participated every year since 2004, but only qualified for the Grand Final six times.
Their best result is a 6th place with the 2007-entry Work Your Magic performed by Dmitry Koldun. This is their only Top-15 position in Eurovision.
