Czechia: It's Adonxs for Eurovision 2025
Adonxs will represent Czechia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel. His song will be released at a later date
Czech broadcaster ČT has just revealed their artist for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
Aiko's successor has officially been announced as Adonxs.
The song that Adonxs will sing on the Eurovision stage will be released at a later date. Adonxs says a bit about his upcoming Eurovision song:
– Uncompromising, cheeky, sometimes cinematic, and with room for dancing.
– I have visualized this moment to a large extent, and for the last year I have mainly focused on creating new songs, also with the ambition of Eurovision. I applied with several songs, and I am happy that one of them was ultimately successful. I can't wait to be able to share the song with you.
Internal selection
Adonxs was selected by the Czech broadcaster. It's the first time since 2017 that the Czech artist has been selected internally. Since 2018, ČT has used the ESCZ format.
The selection of Adonxs went through several thorough phases, says Michal Utíkal, Czechia's Head of Media:
– The candidates were first decided by a 10-member international jury consisting of five professionals from the field of music production, and music composers and five former foreign representatives of Eurovision.
– The next part was quantitative research with more than 900 respondents from three foreign countries. To ratify the voting result, we conducted another research through a focus group.
– And Adonxs was the clear winner in all aspects.
Adonxs
Adam Pavlovčin (29), with the stage name Adonxs, is a Slovak singer, songwriter, model, and dancer who rose to fame after winning the seventh season of the Czech-Slovak singing competition SuperStar in 2021. As the first openly queer winner of the show, he gained recognition not only for his vocal talent but also for his bold, gender-nonconforming performances. He has described his victory as a significant step forward for the LGBTQ+ visibility in Central Europe.
Adonxs studied music composition and songwriting at the prestigious BIMM Institute in London, where he honed his artistic skills. He began his career as the frontman of the band PACE before launching his solo career under the stage name Adonxs in 2022. His debut single, “Moving On,” marked the start of a successful run, followed by the release of his album "Age of Adonxs," which was well-received and hailed as a significant work in Slovakia’s music scene.
Known for his unique aesthetic and exploration of identity, Adonxs’s music blends personal themes with a mix of pop and alternative sounds. His artistry, shaped by his experiences in Slovakia, Prague, and London, continues to inspire and resonate with a broad audience.
Adonxs is thrilled to represent Czechia where he currently lives:
– First of all, I am really happy; participating in Eurovision has always been my big dream. At the same time, I feel a great responsibility to represent a country that has a great recent history in the competition, and which is my home.
Czechia in the Eurovision Song Contest
Czechia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 12 times. After three years of very poor results (2007, 2008, 2009), they decided to withdraw from the competition for five years, with only 10 points in their Eurovision account. But their hope for Eurovision never died, so they returned to the contest again in 2015, participating each year thereafter.
In 2016, Czechia qualified for the Grand Final for the first time. Their best result was in 2018, when Mikolas Josef secured a 6th place finish with the song "Lie To Me."
