Estonia: Koit Toome & Laura win Eesti Laul 2017
Koit Toome and Laura won Eesti Laul 2017 and will represent Estonia at Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv with the song "Verona"
Tonight Estonia held their national selection Eesti Laul 2017, in order to choose their representor and the public chose Koit Toome and Laura with their song "Verona".
Ten contestants competed in the final of Eesti Laul. By the combination score of the judges and the public, three superfinalists were chosen. Next all the points were back to zero and a new round of voting started, the public voted and the winner was determined.

The favorite Kerli actually won the first round of voting with 22 points, but in the superfinal it was Koit Toome & Laura who got the most votes.
Koit Toome & Laura
Koit Toome (38) - His career started off in 1995 in a duo called Code One. In 1998 the duo separated and the same year Koit represented Estonia in Eurovision with a song "Mere Lapsed" where he finished 12th. He has tried to get to Eurovision several other times, but hasn't made it that far until now. He's taken part in many Estonian television shows and he's one of the most famous and most loved singers in Estonia.
Laura Põldvere (28) - Laura has also represented Estonia in Eurovision before, in 2005 she represented her country in a group called Suntribe with a song "Let's Get Loud", they finished 20th in the semi-final. She has studied pop-jazz music in America. She has also tried to represent Estonia before, last year in 2016, she finished second in Eesti Laul with her song "Supersonic" which was also written by Sven Lõhmus. Laura is like Koit, a famous singer in Estonia and has taken part in several television programmes.

Eesti Laul 2017
Eesti Laul had two semi-finals which were held at 11th February and 18th February. The Final was held on 4th March. Ten songs competed in each semi-final, but only five qualified. Four qualifiers were chosen by the combination score of the judges and the public and the fifth qualifier was chosen only by the public.
In the final ten songs competed and the winner was determined by two rounds of voting, in the first round the judges' score and public votes were combined and three superfinalists were chosen. In the second round only the public voted for their favourite and the winner was picked.
The hosts of the semi-finals were Marko Reikop and Elina Netšajeva. The hosts of the final were popular Estonian comedians and actors Märt Avandi and Ott Sepp.
Eurovision 2015 winner Mans Zelmerlöw was the guest performer in the final.
Estonia in Eurovision Song Contest
Estonia has participated in Eurovision Song Contest 22 times by now, first in 1994. Estonia has participated every year, except 1995. Estonia has managed to qualify to the grand final only 5 out of 13 times. Estonia has won just once, in year 2001 with a song "Everybody" performed by Tanel Padar and Dave Benton and 2XL.
