Malta: Artists for MESC 2026 revealed
18 artists will compete at the Maltese MESC 2026. One of them will represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026
Maltese broadcaster PBS has just revealed the lineup for MESC 2026.
18 acts have been selected by Maltese national broadcaster PBS to compete in the next MESC in Malta. One of them will represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna.
MESC 2026
MESC 2026 will consist of two live shows.
- Semi-final: 15 January 2026
- Final: 17 January 2026
The competition begins with a Semi-final on Thursday, 15 January 2026, when all 18 acts will perform. A combination of jury and public voting will choose the 12 finalists.
Two nights later, on Saturday, 17 January 2026, the 12 qualifiers will return for the MESC 2026 Final. The winner will be selected on the night and will go on to represent Malta at Eurovision in Vienna in May.
Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest
Malta debuted in Eurovision back in 1971, and has participated in the contest 37 times since then – without any victories.
Their best results are two runners-up finishes in 2002 (Ira Losco - "7th Wonder") and 2005 (Chiara - "Angel"). They came last in 1971, 1972 and 2006 and in their Semi-finals in 2023 and 2024.
Since the introduction of the Semi-finals in 2004, Malta has qualified for the Grand Final 11 out of 21 times.
