France: Monroe's song for Eurovision 2026 released – Listen to "Regarde"

France's broadcaster has just announced the internal selection of Monroe for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Her song "Regarde" has just been released

French broadcaster France 2 has just announced who will be waving the flag for the country in Vienna this May.

Louane's successor has officially been announced as Monroe.

The song that Monroe will sing on the Eurovision stage is titled "Regarde" and has been released:

Monroe Vata is a 17-year-old French-American singer. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to a French mother and an American father. She grew up in the United States and began singing at an early age. As a child, she performed in her church choir, where she developed an interest in classical repertoire. She later received formal training in classical singing and also studied piano.

In January 2025, Monroe won the eleventh season of the classical music TV show Prodiges broadcast on France 2. The programme is dedicated to young classical musicians. In the final, she performed “La Reine de la nuit” from Mozart’s opera "Die Zauberflöte".

Following her win on Prodiges, Monroe signed a recording contract with Warner Music. In November 2025, she released her debut album. The album contains classical pieces as well as crossover material including “L’hymne à l’amour” by Édith Piaf and “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz.

Monroe continues to perform live concerts in France, including performances in churches and concert venues, focusing primarily on classical and crossover repertoire.

France is a grand old country in Eurovision. They have participated 67 times since the start of Eurovision in 1956.

Their best results are five victories in 1977, 1969, 1962, 1960, 1958. But, their latest victory was in 1977 – 48 years ago! Their worst result was in 2014, when France finished last in the Grand Final.

France is a member of the "Big-5," which means they don't have to go through the Semi-final round and are automatically qualified for the Grand Final.
