France: Louane's Eurovision 2025 song released – Listen to "Maman"
France has finally unveiled the song that'll be representing them on the Eurovision 2025 stage: "Maman" has officially been released
As the 2025 season for national Finals and internal selections draws to a close, we now know what France has whipped up for us.
At the end of January, French broadcaster France 2 revealed that Louane would wave the flag for the country in Basel. Since then, lots of anticipation has filled the air as people waited for her song to release.
The day has finally arrived, and we now know she's taking "Maman" to Eurovision for France. Her song premiered during the halftime show at the France vs Scotland rugby match at the Six Nations Championship, held at Stade de France in Paris.
"Maman" was written by Louane herself along with Tristan Salvati.
With the release of Maman, the means we now have the full lineup of songs for Eurovision 2025.
Since France is apart of the Big-5, they are already automatically qualified for the Grand Final held on 17 May and are looking to follow in the footsteps of Slimane, who finished at an incredible 4th place in 2024.
Louane
Anne Edwige Maria Peichert with the stage name Louane is a 28-year-old singer and actress from Sainte-Catherine, France.
Louane gained fame in 2013 when she reached the Semi-final of The Voice France. The year after she had her acting debut in the movie La Famille Bélier, which earned her the César Award for Most Promising Actress. She sang "Je Vole" on the soundtrack from the movie, and it became a hit in France.
Louane has released multiple successful albums, blending French chanson with modern pop influences. Her first album "Chambre 12" was released in 2015 which included the hit "Jour 1." It was the best-selling album of the year in France that year. She has released four other albums: "Louane" in 2017, "Joie de vivre" in 2020, "Sentiments" in 2022 and "Solo" in 2024.
France in the Eurovision Song Contest
France is a grand old country in Eurovision. They have participated 66 times since the start of Eurovision in 1956.
Their best results are five victories in 1977, 1969, 1962, 1960, 1958. But, their latest victory was in 1977 – 47 years ago! Their worst result was in 2014, when France finished last in the Grand Final.
France is a member of the "Big-5," which means they don't have to go through the Semi-final round and are automatically qualified for the Grand Final.
