Cyprus: John Karayiannis to Vienna

The final of the Cypriot Final was aired tonight. John Karayiannis will represent Cyprus at Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "One Thing I Should Have Done"

We have been watching the Cypriot selection process for six weeks. And tonight we were rewarded with the Final: Γιάννης Καραγιάννης (John Karayiannis) will represent Cyprus in Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna. The public could vote for their favourit song since the end of last weeks Semi-final. The televotes were combined 50/50 with an expert jury, to determine which song will represent Cyprus in Vienna.

The six finalists

1) Hovig - "Stone In A River"
2) Doody - "Magic"
3) Panagiotis Koufogiannis - "Without Your Love"
4) Minus One - "Shine"
5) John Karayiannis - "One Thing I Should Have Done"
6) Charis Savva & Nearchos Evaggelou - "Dila Den Agapo"

Eurochallenge

Cyprus had six auditions and three shows to pick the winner that will represent Cyprus at Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna. The first six auditions called "Eurovision Song Project" selects the 20 songs that will go through to the next step: "Eurochallenge". Here 10 songs proceded to the next round of Eurochallenge. The six best songs proceeded to the Final held tonight.

The jury

The jury in the Final consisted of five experts, including three former Cypriot Eurovision-artists: Elena Patroklou ( 1991) , Alex Panayi (1995 & 2000) and Despina Olympiou (2013). Tasos Trifonos and Bruno Berberes (Executive Producer of The Voice in France).

Cyprus in Eurovison Song Contest

Since Cyprus debuted in Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, the country has not yet managed to win in any of the 31 times the country has participated. Since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004, Cyprus has only qualified for four finals. Best location is three fifth places (1982, 1997, 2004), and the worst is last place in 1986.
