Hungary: Freddie wins A Dal 2016
After six shows of A Dal in Hungary, we have found the Hungarian entry for Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm: Freddie won A Dal 2016 with the song "Pioneer"
A Dal 2016 ("The Song 2016") had its sixth and last show tonight in Hungary: The final, with guest performances by Alexander Rybak (Norway 2009) and Boggie (Hungary 2015).
The winner of A Dal 2016 is Freddie with the song "Pioneer".
Eight entries competed, and the winner was selected over two rounds of voting: First the jury selected the top four entries that advanced to the Super final (Freddie, Gergő Oláh, Kállay Saunders Band and Petruska). In the Super final the winner was determined by public voting.
Freddie
Fehérvári Gábor Alfréd (25) was born in Budapest. He participated in the Hungarian TV-show Rising Star in 2014, where he finished fourth. He loves Rock / Indie / R'n'B music. He had a hit in Hungary with the song "Mary Joe", written by András Kállay-Saunders (Hungary 2014).
Freddie won both his Heat (Heat 1 with 42 points) and his Semi-final (Semi-final 2 with 47 points).

A Dal 2016
A Dal 2016 consisted of six shows: Three heats, two semi-finals and one final:
- 23 January: Heat 1
- 30 January: Heat 2
- 6 February: Heat 3
- 13 February: Semi-final 1
- 20 February: Semi-final 2
- 27 February: Final
All the shows took place at MTVA in Budapest, and were hosted by Csilla Tatár (Levente Harsányi in the greenroom).
Heats
Each of the three heats featured 10 songs with 6 proceeding to the semi-finals from each show. The first 5 songs were decided by a jury of 4 persons. After the jury has decided, the televotes qualified 1 more song from the 5 that weren't chosen by the jury.
Semi-finals
Both of the two semi-finals featured 9 songs with 4 proceeding to the final from each show. The first 3 songs were decided by the jury. After the jury had decided, the televotes qualified 1 more song from the 6 that weren't chosen by the jury.
Final
The final featured 8 songs with 4 songs proceeded to the super-final, all decided by the jury. In the super-final the televoting solely decided the winner of A Dal 2016.
The jury of A Dal 2016 consisted of Pierrot, Zséda, Károly Freinreisz and Miklós Both.
Hungary in Eurovision Song Contest
Hungary has participated in Eurovision Song Contest 13 times since its debut in 1994. The Best result was in the debuting year 1994 where the song "Kinek Mondjam El Vétkeimet" went 4th. Since the introduction of the Semi-finals in 2004 Hungary has qualified for the Grand Final 7 out of 9 times - The last 5 years Hungary did qualify for the Grand Final. Their worst result was in 2008 where Hungary went last in Semi-final 2.
