Georgian Selection 2009
Withdrawal from Eurovision 2009
Shortly after "We Don't Wanna Put In" was selected, the song received lots of attention from other countries, because of its lyrics and title which sounded like we don't want a Putin. A spokesperson from the Georgian broadcaster GPB denied that the song had any political connotations within the lyrics, but the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) didn't agreed on that.
On 10 March, EBU told GPB that the song's lyrics did not comply with the rules about "lyrics, speeches, gestures of a political or similar nature", and asked GPB to either re-write the lyrics of the song, or select another to compete. The day after Georgia withdrew from Eurovision 2009 – which was held in Russia.
