Denmark: Søren Torpegaard wins Melodi Grand Prix 2026

Denmark's Melodi Grand Prix 2026 was held tonight with eight songs fighting for the throne. The Danish representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will be Søren Torpegaard Lund with the song "Før vi går hjem"

Denmark held its national selection Melodi Grand Prix 2026 tonight in Arena Nord in Frederikshavn.

After more than 2 hours and eight songs, all the focus was on the winner Søren Torpegaard Lund and the song "Før vi går hjem," who will compete for Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna.

Three songs from the eight competing acts advanced to the Superfinal, determined by a jury and the public viewers via app/SMS: Søren Torpegaard Lund, Sissal, and Ericka Jane. In the Superfinal, the voting was reset and the Danish viewers and the jury selected Søren Torpegaard Lund as the winner of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026.

Søren Torpegaard Lund

Søren Torpegaard Lund trained at Den Danske Scenekunstskole, graduating from the bachelor programme in musical performance, and he works professionally as a musical performer, actor and solo artist.

In 2022 he played the role of Tony in the production of "West Side Story" at the Copenhagen Opera House. He previously appeared in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2023 with the ballad "Lige her". His experience includes both stage musicals and pop music releases, bridging theatrical performance and contemporary songcraft.

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 was broadcast on Saturday 14 February live from Arena Nord in Frederikshavn. Hosts were Sara Bro and Alex Høgh Andersen.

The voting at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 took place in two rounds. In the first round, all eight songs performed, and the top three qualified for the Superfinal based on a combined result of 50% public vote and 50% jury vote. In the Superfinal, voting started again, and both the public and the jury voted once more to decide the winner, again with a 50/50 split.
