
Malta: Eight qualify from MESC 2025 Semi-final 1
The first eight acts going through to the final round of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 have just been announced. In two days, the final eight will be chosen
The Maltese selection competition for Eurovision 2025 has officially kicked off.
Two Semi-finals will take place, and next Saturday the Maltese audience, as well as a jury panel, will decide on which artist and song should represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel.
Tonight, broadcast live from the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre, 12 artists took the stage hoping to get the return ticket, but only eight made it through. The show was hosted by TV presenters Valentina Rossi and Pauline Agius, as well as by actor Davide Tucci.

Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 (MESC) will have two Semi-finals and a Final. Overall 24 songs will be presented, 16 will qualify, one will win and represent Malta in Eurovision 2025.
The three shows are being hosted by Maltese entertainers Valentina Rossi, Pauline Agius, and Davide Tucci, and all shows will be broadcast live from the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre, Ta' Qali. The voting decision will be split between the Maltese public and a jury.

Malta in Eurovision
Malta debuted in Eurovision back in 1971, and has participated in the contest 36 times since then – without any victories.
Their best results are two runners-up finishes in 2002 (Ira Losco - "7th Wonder") and 2005 (Chiara - "Angel"). They came last in 1971, 1972 and 2006 and in their Semi-finals in 2023 and 2024.
Since the introduction of the Semi-finals in 2004, Malta has qualified for the Grand Final 10 out of 20 times.
