Presenting Austria: The Makemakes - "I Am Yours"
The Austrian pop-rock band "The Makemakers" represents Austria in their own capital Vienna. They are not favorites to win Eurovision Song Contest 2015 on home ground, but have some favorites
The Makemakes is an Austrian pop-rock band, which started in 2012. The band consists of 3 members: Dominic "Dodo" Muhrer (singer), Markus Christ (Bass), Florian Meindl (drums). In March they won the Austrian selection for Eurovision "Wer singt für Österreich?", and are representing Austria in Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna.
Eurovision is not always about the song
In 2012, they released their first single "The Lovercall" which was a big success as it hit the 6th place on The Austrian Singles Chart, but when they released a new single "Million Euro Smile" in 2014 it was an even bigger success. It hit the 2nd place on The Austrian Singles Chart.
Dominic: »As I was listening to the other songs in the competition this year, I realized everything it's not always about the song, it's also about the show and communicating with the listeners.«
Dominic's favorite songs at the moment are Guy Sebastian's " Tonight Again", Il Volo's "Grande Amore" and Elina Born and Stig Rästa's "Goodbye to Yesterday". He says some of the singers like Il Volo are world famous so it's going to be hard: »We are continuing as a band and won't stop performing, and voting for Austria this year also is worth it!« - said Dominic to Estonia's interviewers.
Ready to fight in Eurovision
The Makemakes wants to fight in Eurovision for the song to speak for itself and not to gain the cheap popularity with the show, but the work they have put in it.
We also have beards and long hair and if you don't like it, it's going to be a problem!
Half with the joke they said: "We also have beards and long hair and if you don't like that, it's going to be a problem, when you listen us, you can understand that we're not typical song contest singers who haven't been on a stage before. We started before Eurovision and we are going to continue after it."

Austria in Eurovision Song Contest
Austria has been participating in Eurovision Song Contest 47 times since it's debut in 1957. They won the competion twice: in 1966 (Udo Jürgens - Merci Chérie) and in 2014 (Conchita Wurst - Rise Like a Phoenix). They came last in the competition eight times (Zero points in 1962, 1988 and 1991). Since the introduction of Semi-finals in 2004, Austria only qualified for the Grand Final 3 out of 7 times. In 2015 Austria will host Eurovision Song Contest and is automatically qualified for the Grand Final. They will vote in Semi-final 1.
