Mary Hopkin was internally selected to represent United Kingdom at Eurovision 1970.

Hopkin presented one song a week for six weeks on the BBC1 TV series It's Cliff Richard!, and performed all six songs on A Song for Europe 1970. The public could vote via postcards, and the result was announced one week later.
