Albina Kelmendi to represent Albania at Eurovision 2023

Albania will be represented by Albina & Familja Kelmendi at Eurovision 2023 after winning Festivali i Këngës 61. Albina & Familja Kelmendi will sing "Duje" in Liverpool

The people of Albania have decided: Albina & Familja Kelmendi will sing "Duje" in Liverpool for Eurovision 2023.

The 61st edition of Festivali i Këngës is now over after four nights of music and celebration. Several changes were introduced in this year's edition, including its selection method. Known for always giving the jury the right to decide, RTSH decided to shift that decision towards the public. And after all the votes were counted, Albina & Familja Kelmendi were the winners.

Albina & Familja Kelmendi – "Duje"

"Duje" was written by Eriona Rushiti. It's still unclear if the song will undergo a revamp ahead of Eurovision 2023 which may affect its melody and/or lyrics.

Albina Kelmendi

Albina Kelmendi is a well-known Albanian singer.

Coming from a family of musicians, she inherited a great desire and passion for music, and decided to bring her family on stage with her for her entry. On top of that, she attended music school to cement her knowledge and experience.

Albina has released an album this year, her first.

Festivali i Këngës #61

The 61st edition of Festivali i Këngës was divided into four live shows:

  • 19 December: Night 1 (first 13 songs performed)
  • 20 December: Night 2 (last 13 songs performed)
  • 21 December: Night 3 (Nostalgia night)
  • 22 December: Final

The four nights were broadcast live from Tirana's Palace of Congress and hosted by TV presenter Arbana Osmani. During the third night, a nostalgic theme took place and included a live performance from this year's Eurovision winners, Kalush Orchestra (Ukraine 2022).

Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest

Since their debut in 2004, Albania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest every year. Their best result is a 5th place finish in 2012, when Rona Nishliu sang "Suus."

Out of the 18 times Albania has participated, they have qualified for the Grand Final 10 times.
