What They Say was written and produced by Victor himself more than a year ago.

Victor Vernicos was internally selected by Greek broadcaster ERT to represent Greece after convincing both a 70-member audience panel and an ESC jury from ERT.

Victor Vernicos

Victor Vernicos Jørgensen (16) was born in Athens in 2006, just a few months after Eurovision 2006 was held in his hometown. He's half Greek and half Danish, and has been involved in music since he was 4-years-old. He's taken vocal and guitar lessons, and also attended music seminars.

Victor began uploading his own cover versions of songs to YouTube nearly three years ago. His most popular cover version has been viewed by approximately 13,000 people.

In 2021 he released his first song. He wrote both the music and lyrics for the song, and also produced it himself. At the moment he's taking vocal and performance lessons with Nina Lotsari.

He told the story of his Eurovision song "What They Say," which he submitted for the Greek selection process, on Instagram:

– I believe in my song and its meaning, said Victor

He characterizes his Eurovision song as a festive, atmospheric ballad.

He has set the goal of becoming the youngest ESC winner ever. Victor Vernicos is currently the youngest Greek competitor in this competition, but he's already missed the record for the youngest winner. It will always be Belgium's Sandra Kim, who won the Eurovision Song Contest 1986 at the age of 13.
