Croatia: Dora 2021 will determine the Eurovision 2021 representative
The national broadcaster confirms a national selections for 2021
After the cancellation of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, Damir Kedžo expressed interest in participating in Rotterdam for the 2021 edition. Damir Kedžo was due to be in Rotterdam with the song "Divlji vjetre".
The Head of Delegation, Uršula Tolj, confirms that the next representative on the Eurovision stage will be selected through their national selection, Dora.
– Together, we got the most out of this year without the standard Eurovision Song Contest. We present ourselves with dignity on social media as well as in the special show Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light. Damir proved to be a great professional and despite the situation, he did a great job of all the promotion - and the song, we can conclude without hesitation, achieved great success both in Croatia and abroad.
Having said this, Damir must compete once again in Dora if he would like to represent Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 which is due to be held in Rotterdam. He previously stated that he will participate if he had the right song.
No information on the format of the competition has yet been given.
Croatia in Eurovision Song Contest
Croatia has participated in Eurovision Song Contest 25 times since its debut in 1993. The first victory for Croatia in Eurovision is yet to come. The best result is two 4th places in 1996 (Maja Blagdan - "Sveta Ljubav") and 1999 (Doris Dragovic - "Marija Magdalena").
Since the introduction of Semi-finals in 2004 Croatia qualified for the Grand Final 7 out of 14 times. They withdrew from Eurovision 2014 and 2015 due to financial limitations and poor results in the contest.
