MESC 2024 – Final
MESC 2024
Maltese broadcaster TVM presented viewers four shows with a total of 36 artists competing to be the country's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. By the end of November, the jury and the Maltese public had voted for 12 artists who then competed in the final show tonight.
The voting consisted of an appointed jury's score, which counted for 78% (!!!) of the total result, while the Maltese public's voice had a weight of 22%.
The songs were not performed live on stage. Instead, viewers were presented live-on-tape-performances that they could then vote on.
Malta in Eurovision
Malta debuted in Eurovision back in 1971, and has participated in the contest 35 times since then – without any victories.
Their best results are two runners-up finishes in 2002 (Ira Losco - "7th Wonder") and 2005 (Chiara - "Angel"). They came last in 1971, 1972 and 2006 and in their semi-final in 2023.
Since the introduction of the Semi-finals in 2004, Malta has qualified for the Grand Final 10 out of 19 times.
