Norway MGP 2023: Jone, Swing'it and Elsie Bay to the final

Tonight the second heat of the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix 2023 took place. Seven acts performed live and three of them qualified for the final: Jone, Swing'it and Elsie Bay

Melodi Grand Prix 2023 continued this Saturday with another seven acts competing for three spots in the final of MGP. The show was broadcast live from Nydalen in Oslo.

The three qualifiers from Heat 2 were Jone with the song "Ekko Inni Meg," Swing'it with the song "Prohibition," and Elsie Bay with the song "Love You in a Dream." They qualify directly for the final of MGP 2023 which will be held on 4 February.

Melodi Grand Prix 2023 consists of four shows: Three heats and a final:

  • Heat 1: 14 January 2023
  • Heat 2: 21 January 2023
  • Heat 3: 28 January 2023
  • Final: 4 February 2023

In each of the heats, seven songs are performed, and three songs qualify for the final (decided by 100% televoting). In the final, the results will be based on 50% televoting and 50% international jury.

All shows are hosted by Arian Engebø and Stian "Staysman" Thorbjørnsen.

In 2009, Alexander Rybak's Fairytale received the most points ever in the old voting system: 387 points – getting 12 points from 16 countries. However, Norway holds another Eurovision record; the country that has finished last the most times – 10 last place finishes!

Since the introduction of the Semi-finals in 2004, Norway has been very successful; qualifying for the Grand Final 15 out of 18 times.
