Malta: New song for Eurovision 2022
The Maltese broadcaster PBS has decided to replace Emma Muscat's song for Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with "I Am What I Am"
MESC 2022 (Malta Eurovision SONG Contest 2022) had three shows aired live from Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta' Qali less than one month ago, under the motto: "What a Feeling".
22 brand new songs were presented in the Semi-final on 17 February 2022. 17 of these qualified for the Final on 19 February. Everything decided by televoting (14% weight!) and a jury (86% weight).
What a feeling!
The 22 songs obviously meant nothing to the Maltese broadcaster
But it was all unnecessary. The 22 songs obviously meant nothing to the Maltese broadcaster, who has now chosen to send a completely new song to Eurovision: "I Am What I Am". The artist remain the same: The winner of MESC 2022, Emma Muscat.
Let's see whether songwriters will continue to write songs for future editions of MESC (Malta Eurovision SONG Contest).
What a feeling!
Malta in Eurovision Song Contest
Malta debuted in Eurovision back in 1971 and has been in the contest 33 times since – without a victory. Best result is two runner-up's in 2002 (Ira Losco - "7th Wonder") and 2005 (Chiara - "Angel"). The worst result is three last places in 1971, 1972 and 2006.
Since the introduction of Semi-finals in 2004 Malta qualified for the Grand Final 10 out of 17 times.
