The Maltese broadcaster PBS has decided to replace Emma Muscat's song for Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with "I Am What I Am"

What a feeling! The Maltese broadcaster PBS held their selection for Turin, MESC 2022 (Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022) live from MFCC, Ta' Qali tonight.
The 17 selected acts fought it out on stage tonight. Now we can reveal the winner of the Maltese competition and, therefore, going through to Eurovision 2022 in Turin is Emma Muscat with the song "Out of Sight".
Out of Sight is written by Antonio Caputo, Emma Muscat, Gabriel Rossi, Lorenzo Santarelli and Marco Salvaderi.
MESC 2022 – Final
Emma Muscat
Emma Muscat is a 22 year-old Maltese singer and songwriter.
She released her first single "Alone" in 2016 on Youtube. She rose to fame when she participated in the seventeenth edition of the talent show Amici di Maria De Filipi managing to enter the "evening phase" (fase serale) where she was eliminated in the final, finishing with fourth place in the singing category.
On 3 July 2020 she released her summer single Sangria, with Italian rapper Astol, and reached 21 million streams on YouTube.
Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022
There were two shows scheduled for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022:
- Semi-final: 17 February 2022
- Final: 19 February 2022
A total of 22 songs competed in MESC 2022 with 17 qualified for the Final. The results of MESC 2022 were determined by 14% televoting and 86% jury (!!!).
Both shows were held at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta' Qali, hosted by Stephanie Spiteri, Quiton Scerri and Ron Briffa.
A special show with nearly all past Maltese Eurovision representatives was aired in anticipation to the final night before Destiny's successor.
Malta in Eurovision Song Contest
Malta debuted in Eurovision back in 1971 and has been in the contest 33 times since – without a victory. Best result is two runner-up's in 2002 (Ira Losco - "7th Wonder") and 2005 (Chiara - "Angel"). The worst result is three last places in 1971, 1972 and 2006.
Since the introduction of Semi-finals in 2004 Malta qualified for the Grand Final 10 out of 17 times.
