San Marino has decided: Achille Lauro to Eurovision 2022

The Sammarinese broadcaster, SMRTV, held the final of "Una voce per San Marino" and Achille Lauro with "Stripper" won the contest

The winner of the most complicated national selection in history, Una voce per San Marino, is Achille Lauro with the song "Stripper". SMRTV held their selection for Eurovision 2022 live from the Teatro Nuovo in Dogana, San Marino.

Tonight's final show featured 18 artists. Una voce per San Marino was hosted by Senhit (San Marino 2011 and 2021) and Jonathan Kashanian. The famous italian singer, Al Bano (Italy 1976 and 1985) featured in the interval act.

The decision was made by a professional jury that consisted of Mogol (songwriter), Simon Lee (conductor, composer and arranger), Clarissa Martinelli (radio presenter), Dino Stewart (managing director at BMG Italy) and Susanne Georgi (Andorra 2009).

Achille Lauro

Lauro De Marinis known as Achille Lauro, is a famous Italian singer, rapper and songwriter. He competed 3 times (2019, 2020, 2022) at Italy's popular Sanremo festival. He released 7 studio albums with the latest Achille Idol Superstar, released few days ago, has already charted in the top 4 Italian Music Charts.

Italian media often describe him as a symbol of the urban panorama of music and fashion. He rose to fame after his first 2 appearances at the popular Sanremo festival as he shook the biggest Gala of Italian music, bringing artistic/cultural performances inspired by celebrated historic figures on stage (St. Francis of Assisi, Ziggy Stardust, the Marquess Luisa Casati Stampa, and (Queen Elizabeth) with a concept that aimed to incentivize personal freedom and self-determination .

Una Voce per San Marino

Una Voce per San Marino took place on 19 February 2022 in the Teatro Nuovo in Dogana, with a capacity of 365 seats.

All 18 contestants freely chose the song to be interpreted on stage. An expert jury decided the winner of the show and also second and third place.

All competing songs and artists had to comply with the normal rules of Eurovision. There are no restrictions on the performers' nationality.

Una Voce per San Marino was organised by Evolution SRL, the Ministry of Tourism, Posts, Cooperation and Expo of the Republic of San Marino, and San Marino RTV.

San Marino is one of the newest – and smallest Eurovision countries.

They have been participating 11 times since their first Eurovision Song Contest in 2008. But not with great success. In eight out of the 11 participations they didn't manage to qualify for the Grand Final. San Marino qualified for the Grand Final three times: In 2014, 2019 and 2021. The worst results were in 2008 and 2017 where they came last in their Semi-final.
