Spain: First four qualify for Benidorm Fest 2025 Final

Eight acts performed, four made it through and are now one step closer to representing Spain in Eurovision 2025. The four finalists will be back Saturday for the Final of Benidorm Fest 2025

Spain's broadcaster RTVE continues to invest hard in the Benidorm Fest brand that continues to grow and draw more attention each year that passes. The fourth edition of the country's national selection process started tonight with the first Semi-final and will culminate with the Final on Saturday with a winning entry.

Tonight eight acts took the stage hoping to impress both the jury panel and the public at home who saw their decision power increase this year. This time around the public vote will be worth 50% (split between televotes and SMS votes).

Unlike previous editions, the amount of points each act gets will only be revealed after Saturday's final. The qualifiers were announced in a random order and were Lachispa, Daniela Blasco, Kuve, and Lucas Bun.

Spain will continue to use its national selection competition in order to select their Eurovision representative, the Benidorm Fest. 2025 will mark its fourth edition and feature a similar format to previous years with slight changes in the voting process, with more power given to the audience at home.

The jury panel remains with a decision power of 50% and features: Roberto Santamaría (director of Radio Nacional de España), Javier Llano (head of music programming at a radio channel), Jaime Acero (content director at TelevisaUnivision), Claudia Orellana (director and founder of a music talent management company), Oksana Skybinska (head of the Ukrainian delegation), Maja Tokic (executive producer of Dora), Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen (previous head of the Dutch delegation), and Mariangela Borneo (director of international projects and festivals at RAI).

Former Eurovision star Ruth Lorenzo (Spain 2014) will host the show along with other TV presenters, Paula Vázquez, and Inés Hernand.

Two Semi-finals and a Final will take place in the Palau Municipal d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm:

  • 28 January 2025: Semi-final 1
  • 30 January 2025: Semi-final 2
  • 1 February 2025: Final

Spain is a member of the "Big-5," which means they don't have to go through the Semi-final round and are automatically qualified for the Grand Final. Spain is also a member of "club zero" because they have managed to get zero points 3 times. They have finished in last place 5 times in Eurovision history, the latest coming in 2017.

Spain's best-known song is probably "Eres Tú" from Eurovision 1973 (2nd place, only four points away from victory).
