Sweden Melodifestivalen 2024: Marcus & Martinus and Medina qualify from Heat 5
Tonight the last heat of Melodifestivalen 2024 took place in Karlstad, Sweden. Six acts performed live, and two qualified directly for the Final: Marcus & Martinus with "Unforgettable" and Medina with "Que Sera."
The fifth and last deltävling (heat) of Melodifestivalen 2024 took place tonight. The two winners were Marcus & Martinus and Medina, who go straight through to the Final, with Annika Wickihalder and Jay Smith qualifying for the "Final qual," which takes place right after this heat.
The fifth deltävling was held in Löfbergs Arena in Karlstad. It's the fifth time Melodifestivalen has visited Karlstad. Right after tonight's heat the "Final qual" will take place. Here, we'll find out who the last two qualifiers are for the Final in Stockholm next Saturday.

Fredrik Kempe tribute
Artist and songwriter Fredrik Kempe was elected to the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame. He has written 35 songs for Melodifestivalen since 2004, including four winners.
During tonight's Heat 5 we saw the most beautiful moment from this year's Melodifestivalen – up until now – as Fredrik Kempe was celebrated with a big choir singing some of his most iconic songs:

The format for Melodifestivalen 2024 is modified a bit compared to previous years:
There were five heats with six entries in each. Two entries from each heat went straight to the Final, two remained in the competition, and two were eliminated.
Right after Heat 5, all the third and fourth place finishers from the five heats will compete in a "Final qual" round.
The heats and "Final qual" are 100% public vote, while the Final will be decided by 50% public vote and 50% jury vote.
Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest
Since 1958, Sweden has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 62 times, and with great success. Together with Ireland, they hold the record of most victories in Eurovision:

They came in last two times (1963 and 1977), and since the introduction of the Semi-finals in 2004 Sweden has managed to qualify for the Grand Final 18 out of 19 times (only failing to qualify in 2010)!
