UK has decided: SuRie to Eurovision

Tonight the UK decided which of the 6 competing songs would represent the United Kingdom in their national final "Eurovision: You Decide". SuRie won the privilege of singing "Storm" at Eurovision 2018

Tonight the United Kingdom decided which act to send to Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. Six acts competed in the show "Eurovision You Decide" live from Brighton Dome – The same place where ABBA won Eurovision Song Contest in 1974! Here 44 years after, the show started with a tribute to ABBA – Sung by the host Måns Zelmerlöw (Sweden 2015) and Lucie Jones (United Kingdom 2017).

And tonight's winner is: SuRie with the song "Storm", written by Nicole Blair, Gil Lewis, Sean Hargreaves.

Hosts of the show were the television presenter and actress Mel Giedroyc and former Eurovision winner and Eurovision host Måns Zelmerlöw (Sweden 2015).

The winner was decided by a 50/50 combination of public votes (televoting and online voting) and votes from a professional jury panel. The three members of the jury, provided feedback to the artists during the show.

SuRie

Susanna Marie is an actress and singer, graduate from The Royal Academy of Music. She was backing vocalist and dancer for Loïc Nottet at Eurovision 2015 in Vienna, Austria, representing Belgium with Rhythm Inside. She returned two years later as Musical Director for Blanche’s City Lights in Kyiv, Ukraine last year.

Both entries came fourth in their respective finals.

United Kingdom has participated in Eurovision Song Contest 60 times since 1957. United Kingdom only skipped the contest two times: 1956 and 1958. They have won Eurovision five times:

...and finished in 2nd place 15 times! They only came last one time (2003), where they also entered the Club Null.

United Kingdom is a member of "Big 5", so they don't have to go through the Semi-final qualifications, but are automatically qualified for the Grand Finals.
