Israel: Eden Alene will sing "Set Me Free" at Eurovision 2021
"Set Me Free" is the winning song of "HaShir Shelanu L'Eurovizion", Israel's national song selection show for Eurovision 2021
It has been a turbulent process for Israel to select the song after numerous changes mostly due to the current restrictions the nation is enduring because of COVID-19 but now we have the official Israeli song for Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
Eden will sing Set Me Free at Eurovision Song Contest 2021 on behalf of the Israeli nation after winning the final online voting in HaShir Shelanu L'Eurovizion 2021.

Eden Alene won the Israeli artist selection for Eurovision 2020, HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovizion (The Next Star for Eurovision / הכוכב הבא לאירוויזיון).
After the cancellation of Eurovision 2020 because of COVID-19, Eden Alene was internally selected to represent Israel at Eurovision 2021.
Eden Alene's song for Eurovision 2021 was selected through HaShir Shelanu L'Eurovizion with two rounds: An online elimination round, and a final.
The first round consisted of demo versions of nine songs, which were released on 2 December 2020. The Israeli public could vote on the nine songs until 13 December 2020, and the result of the first round was announced on 3 January 2021. The two most voted songs advanced to the final round, along with one song picked by a jury.
Before the second round, a music video was released for each of the three final songs, and the online voting was open from 19 to 25 January 2021. The winning song was revealed at a special show on 25 January 2021 hosted by Eurovision 2019 host, Lucy Ayoub.
Eden Alene
Eden Alene was born in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Katamon to Ethiopian-born Jewish parents who immigrated separately to Israel during the aliyah from Ethiopia. She studied in religious schools and then attended the Hebrew University High School.
In 2018, she was enlisted to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and serves in a military band.
In October 2017, she participated in the third season of the Israeli reality show The X Factor Israel. At the first audition, she sang "Stone Cold" by Demi Lovato. In January 2018, she won the season finale.
In April 2018, she performed a song by Arkadi Duchin at the torch-lighting ceremony that opened the celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of the State of Israel.
In December 2018, she released her debut single, "Better."
The semi-final allocation draw held for Eurovision Song Contest 2020 which was held on 28 January 2020, will be used for Eurovision 2021. Israel was drawn into Semi-final 1, to be held on 18 May 2021, and will perform in the second half of the show.

Israel has participated 42 times in Eurovision since debut in 1973. They have won the contest four times:

Israel has never ended last in the contest! Since the introduction of semi-finals in 2004, Israel qualified for the Grand Final 10 out of 16 times.
