Lithuania: Katarsis to Eurovision 2025 with "Tavo akys"

The band Katarsis has won Eurovizija.LT and will head to Eurovision 2025 in May with "Tavo akys"

We have yet another national selection contest drawing to a close this busy Super Saturday. After a long night full of performances and intervals in Kaunas concluded, that only means one thing: Lithuania has decided!

What started out with over 40 artists and five heats, it was shortened down tonight to 12 artists and one last show, the Final. All 12 artists performed one final time in hopes of securing enough votes to advance to the Superfinal.

Out of the three acts in the Superfinal the public has spoken for the one they wanted to win: it's the band Katarsis with "Tavo akys" taking the Eurovizija.LT 2025 victory!

"Tavo akys" was written by Lukas Radzevičius.

Tonight's Eurovizija.LT Final saw two rounds of voting. All 12 acts were included in the first round where a jury and the public, both responsible for 50% of the vote, determined the three who would advance to the Superfinal. From there, the winner would be determined by 100% public voting.

Before the votes were revealed we got a lengthy, but rather entertaining, interval act from Lithuanian singer Rokas Yan, who even brought out Eurovision 2022 representative for Lithuania, Monika Liu. Also ahead of the results coming in, Silvester Belt returned to perform his 2024 Eurovision song "Luktelk."

The band Katarsis is taking the Eurovision 2025 stage for Lithuania in the first half of Semi-final 2 on 15 May, hoping to extend Lithuania's qualification streak to the Grand Final.

Katarsis

Katarsis is a dark-alternative and post-punk Lithuanian group consisting of vocalist Lukas Radzevičius, bassist Emilija Kandratavičiūtė, guitarist Alanas Brasas, and drummer Jokūbas Andriulis.

Each song they create tells a distinct backstory while including a thunderous climax and a cathartic sense of relief, also while including hypnotic melodies to captivate their listeners.

They released their first song back in 2020 with their biggest hit "Vasarą galvoj minoras," which accumulated over 3.5 million streams the same year.

In their debut year, 1994, Lithuania finished last. Their best result is from 2006, when LT United performed the iconic song "We Are The Winners (of Eurovision)." Although they didn't win, they finished 6th.

Since the introduction of the Semi-finals in 2004, Lithuania has been in Eurovision every year, and qualified for the Grand Final 13 out of 20 times.

With Estonia's victory in 2001 (Everybody) and Latvia's victory in 2002 (I Wanna), Lithuania is the only Baltic country that hasn't won the Eurovision Song Contest.
