Alina Pash withdraws from Eurovision Song Contest 2022
Alina Pash has announced that she has withdrawn from the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 after accusations that she visited Crimea illegally in 2015. The Ukrainian peninsula Crimea was forcefully and illegally occupied and annexed by Russia in 2014.

Peace, independence and freedom. Our thoughts are with the Ukrainian people who, despite the looming dangers, held their national selection, Vidbir 2022, tonight live from NAU Center of Culture and Arts in Kyiv.
After eight songs and almost four hours, a jury in combination with televoting decided that Alina Pash should represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2022 with the song "Tini Zabutykh Predkiv". Alina's victory was also predicted by the bookmakers and YOU who voted in our poll.
"Tini Zabutykh Predkiv" is composed by Alina Pash herself.
Vidbir 2022 – Result
Tonight's show was hosted by former Eurovision host Timur Miroshnychenko and TV host Masha Efrosinina. It also featured some special performances of the jurors Jamala (Ukraine 2016) and Tina Karol (Ukraine 2006), and also the ESC 2021 representative Go_A.
Some of the former representatives of Ukraine at Junior Eurovision also made a guest performance of Jamala's winning song "1944": Darina Krasnovetska (JESC 2018), Sophia Ivanko (JESC 2019), Oleksandr Balabanov (JESC 2020) and Olena Usenko (JESC 2021).
Alina Pash
Alina Ivanivna Pash is an Ukranian singer and rapper who rose to fame after competing at the Ukranian X Factor.
At a very young age she was already taking part in vocal festivals and even went on to have private vocal lessons.
Her national breakthrough happened in 2015 where she finished third in the X Factor. After that, it was in 2018 that she released her first single.
Since then, Alina has released multiple singles, albums and worked within the world of fashion.
Vidbir 2022
Used as a national final and ultimately the Ukrainian Eurovision entry took place over three stages. In the first stage, artists and songwriters had the opportunity to apply for the competition online with a first selection list of twenty-seven artists that were announced in January 2022.
The second stage consisted of auditions during designated dates but only eight songs made it to the final stage which was held 12 February 2022. The winner was selected by a 50/50 combination of votes from a public televote and a three-member expert jury:

- Jamala (Ukraine 2016)
- Yaroslav Lodyhin (Suspilne board member)
The show was hosted by Maria Efrosinina together with Timur Miroshnychenko.
