Loreen from Sweden wins the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song "Tattoo." It's the 7th time Sweden has won Eurovision
The Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 took place live in Liverpool, UK, where 26 countries competed for the trophy, and the honor of hosting next year's Eurovision Song Contest.
After 4 hours of music, performances, entertainment and excitement, Loreen from Sweden was crowned the winner of the 67th Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Tattoo."
It's the seventh time Sweden has won Eurovision – the last time was just eight years ago at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 where Måns Zelmerlöw won with "Heroes." Sweden has tied Ireland for most Eurovision victories.
Loreen also won Eurovision 2012 with "Euphoria," and was the bookmakers' clear favorite to win Eurovision 2023. Eurovisionworld's visitors also predicted her as winner in our Eurovision Poll.
Eurovision 2023 Results
Sweden won the jury votes, while Finland won the public votes. But in total, Loreen and Sweden received 583 points and were crowned the winner.

Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui (39) was born in Stockholm. She came to fame when she won the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with "Euphoria," which became a worldwide hit that reached number one on the charts in 21 countries.
Loreen participated in the talent show Idol in 2004, finishing fourth, and in 2005 she released her first single "The Snake" with the band Rob'n'Raz.
After some years working as a TV presenter and producer she returned to the music scene when she participated in Melodifestivalen 2011 with "My Heart Is Refusing Me." She placed fourth in the second heat but failed to qualify for the final from the Second Chance show.
But she wasn't finished with Melodifestivalen at that point. She competed at Melodifestivalen 2012 with the song "Euphoria," written by Thomas G:son and Peter Boström, and won the ticket to Eurovision 2012 in Baku. She won Eurovision with a total of 372 points coming from 40 of the 42 voting countries (only Italy didn't give any votes to Sweden).
After her triumph at Eurovision she released her debut album "Heal" in the autumn of 2012.
Loreen made her third Melodifestivalen appearance in 2017, where she competed with the song "Statements." The song placed 3rd in Heat 4, and qualified for the Second Chance show, but didn't qualify for the Final from there.
Out of her four Melodifestivalen participations, she's won half of them:
- 2011: My Heart Is Refusing Me (second chance)
- 2012: Euphoria (winner)
- 2017: Statements (second chance)
- 2023: Tattoo (winner)
Loreen also made her acting debut in the movie "Vinterviken" in 2021.
Voting
The voting procedure has changed from the previous years. Viewers in some of the non-participating countries ("rest of the world") were able to vote online. These online votes had the same weight as one participating country in both of the Semi-Finals, as well as the Grand Final. Each country and "rest of the world" had one set of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 points to give.
- Each of the 37 countries participating in this year's Eurovision could vote.
- Each country had a national jury who gave one set of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 points.
- Each country had televoting which also resulted in a set of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 points.
- Additionally, "rest of the world"-countries gave one set of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 points.
- First, the juries points were presented individually by a spokesperson from each country.
- Secondly, the points from televoting/online were bundled, and given combined.
- The national juries voted the evening before the final (Friday, 12 May) during the second dress-rehearsal.
- If two countries had the same points, a combined national televoting and jury result was calculated only for the purpose of solving a tie situation. The best of the two was the song which has obtained points from the highest number of countries from the combined national televoting and jury calculation.
